Creativity and Life

When my husband died recently, a friend said to me; Life is an ongoing experience Donna - it is like creativity in action. When I thought about it seriously, it dawned on me, our every choice creates our life experience. Life is fraught with challenges such as meeting the basic needs of food and shelter, paying bills, raising families, transportation, and relationships. Making creative choices allows us a certain freedom, that many times shows us a different way to deal with the many daily challenges.

Our lives are are like works of art built over time from our every thought, choice, and act. The world is our canvas for self-expression.

There are no retakes or edits, only additions.

We develop our skills just like an artist, and our art evolves as we do. If we don’t like what we’ve created so far, we are free to choose a different color, texture, or setting. Emotions and sensations are important parts of our artistic toolbox. We may choose to be more conscious, adding only what we truly desire, be it beauty, love, joy, adventure, or all of the above. By letting your imagination lead the way, you can turn that "on going experience" into a work of art - a creative labor of love.
My life, like my drawings are works of art that has been an "on going experience".   There are no edits or retakes.   Hopefully my drawings will continue to evolve as I search through my artistic toolbox for continued creative energy. Someone once said: I am finding that reality is not for me, I love living in the clouds - This would be my portrait.

FINDING HER HERE....

I am becoming the woman I've wanted, grey at the temples,

soft body, delighted cracked up by life

with a laugh that's known bitter but, past it, got better,

knows she's a survivor- that whatever comes,

she can outlast it.

I am becoming a deep weathered basket.

I am becoming the woman I've longed for,

the motherly lover

with arms strong and tender,

the growing up daughter

who blushes surprises.

I am becoming full moons and sunrises.

I find her becoming, this woman I've wanted,

who knows she'll encompass, who knows she's sufficient,

knows where she's going and travels with passion.

Who remembers she's precious, but knows she's not scarce-

who knows she is plenty, plenty to share.

About Me

Samammish, Washington, United States
I have finally realized how important it is to me, to be myself. To love myself, and recognize my passions. I doubt I will live long enough to enjoy, or share all the dreams I have...but I am going to give it my best shot. I want to dance to the music of life and give it to others where and when ever I can. I believe we all have a purpose in this place called "life" and I am finding people come and go, some will leave their mark, and I will remember. I have always been fascinated by the seduction and harmony of line and space, black and white. I believe my pen and ink drawings will take me to many places yet unknown to many: will soothe, distract, and entertain the viewer as it will for me the artist. Hopefully, my drawings will enable the viewer to experience and Abstract Moment as a first experience; moment in time, harmony within themselves, a perceptual moment. My drawings have a connection with life, energy, and birth. Like life, they evolve and are constantly changing.

Moments in time..

I have created this Blog, "Abstract Moments" with the intention and excitement of meeting others who believe, we create our own personal reality. My wish for those who stop to visit, will be the chance they will contribute to, and/or enjoy the awareness of their creative spirit. I hope for this to be a creatively healing, gentle place. I welcome the sharing of art, music, dreams, poetry and friendships of those who love to laugh, create and inspire artistic "Abstract Moments"
Moments that will include joy, sorrow, curiosity, and possibly a smile or two.
Namaste, Donna
